We had 133 jobs in Monday’s post, so that brings us to 416 new open positions at pre-IPO AI startups for the week. There are jobs across all functions, from Accounting to Writing, with many countries represented and quite a few remote opportunities.

🪩 The State of AI Report 2024 🪩

Every year for the last six years, Nathan Benaich has released The State of AI Report.

The 2024 edition came out today.

It's 212 slides of dense information, so if you're interested in this type of content, be warned: you'll need to set some time aside to go through it. I just spent over two hours on it myself. My head hurts. 🤕

I'll look at it again next week to revisit it after giving it some initial thought.

Here are some of my conclusions after reading it:

  • Regulation in Artificial Intelligence seems to be more symbolic posturing than effective policy.

  • NVIDIA isn't slowing down anytime soon. Success is snowballing and they are extending their lead, but they've got a target on their back.

  • Apple is better positioned than I thought, with on-device LLMs emerging in the near future. Even Vision Pro gets a mention in robotics.

  • Only France seems to really understand AI in mainland Europe… and I use “understand” loosely.
