Drake & Fake ๐Ÿšจ

There is some irony when the alleged predator becomes the prey.

With the democratisation of generative AI, we were worried about how broad access to powerful deepfake technology could influence democracy itself.

Deepfakes of Obama in 2017 made us think that the biggest targets of this technology will be politicians, with state actors being the biggest perpetrators.

Over the past month it has become apparent that out of all public figures that Drake has become the poster-child (sorryโ€ฆcouldnโ€™t help myself) for deepfake victims.

Last year, the AI generated fake Weeknd / Drake track made headlines and went viral. Through his current beef with Kendrick Lamar, the topic of โ€˜Fake Drakeโ€™ came up again with another generated track cropping up again at the start of last month.

Rap beefs can be ruthless, but the meme generators on the internet are nastier.

The memesters have generated video deepfakes of Drake as this beef has heated up. We have seen this with a fake interview being released. Another one of him being homeless rummaging through the trash in Toronto also went viral

Shake & Bake ๐Ÿ€

Staying with The Culture, Microsoft has been pushing Copilot during NBA playoff coverage.

Itโ€™s been a delight following the Nova Knicks. During last nights victory over the Pacers, an advertisement for Copilot virtually appeared on the Madison Square Garden floor. It was temporary, only visible through TV coverage and lasted a few minutes. In the end, the advertisement for an AI tool was displayed through the assistance of AI.

The NBA has a partnership with Microsoft and it seems pushing Copilot to the masses has been the focus this playoff series.
